About The Position

The Restaurant Bartender is responsible for serving beverages and/or food to guests in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner, ensuring guest satisfaction. This role also involves preparing beverages for other servers, acting as a cashier for the lounge, and maintaining the bar setup and stock.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ previous experience preferred.
  • Must have the ability to communicate in English.
  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.
  • Must have good knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages.
  • Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
  • Ability to effectively deal with customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers and patrons.
  • Must be completely familiar with the role during hotel emergencies, including fire alarms, medical emergencies, the use of Incident Reports and Logbooks.
  • Must be able to work varied shift work, including weekends and holidays.
  • Security clearance required upon offer of employment.
  • Possess sensational customer service philosophy and a self-starting personality with an even disposition.
  • Can communicate well with guests.
  • Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player.
  • Highly organized, results oriented and ability to work in a multi-functional team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis, including requisitioning and stocking of all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments and produce based on projections from the daily functions sheet.
  • Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting, and storing of all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables daily to ensure product quality.
  • Greets guests in a courteous and friendly manner, promotes and documents orders for drinks. Mixes, garnishes and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control.
  • Abides by all Provincial, Federal and Corporate requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages.
  • Inputs orders into a register at the point of sale and creates a check for each guest, including those served by other beverage servers, to maintain accountability of all beverages served.
  • Receives cash from guests, makes any change needed, verifies validity of charges, records charges, and ensures vouchers are properly executed, in order to balance all moneys.
  • Locks up and stores all beverage, food and other equipment items, deposits cash drops and secures bank.
  • Complies with attendance rules and is available to work on a regular basis.
  • Performs any other job-related duties as assigned.
