About The Position

Progesys is a renowned firm in project management and the optimal transition of these projects from construction to operation. The company has been based in Laval (Canada) since 2002 and has offices in the United States, the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America. Progesys is looking for an Engineering Manager / Area Manager for a major mining project in Montreal.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a relevant field
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or eligible
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in industrial engineering or project management roles
  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects or significant portions of projects in an industrial, mining, oil and gas, or heavy construction environment
  • Experience in coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing engineering deliverables
  • Strong skills in project management, planning, coordination, and problem-solving
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work in dynamic and multidisciplinary environments
  • Bilingualism in French/English required (the employee will communicate regularly with non-French-speaking stakeholders)

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the management and coordination of engineering activities for a project or a major section of a project, from preliminary engineering to execution and commissioning.
  • Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure the delivery of deliverables according to schedules, budgets, quality standards, and project objectives.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for technical and management aspects related to the portion of the project under their responsibility.
  • Actively participate in planning, cost monitoring, risk assessment, and project scope change management.
  • Coordinate activities between engineering, construction, project management, procurement teams, and clients to ensure efficient project progress.
  • Supervise the preparation and approval of technical deliverables, execution plans, and scopes of work.
  • Analyze resource needs and plan engineering activities to meet project objectives.
  • Participate in client meetings and ensure the maintenance of positive professional relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Monitor work progress, identify technical or operational issues, and implement action plans to minimize project impacts.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, internal procedures, and applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes, work methods, and project management practices.
