About The Position

Looking for a job that makes a difference in the lives of local families? LSI currently seeks part-time (up to 29 hrs/week) Respite Providers to provide respite care services in Marshalltown and surrounding areas. (Marshall &/or Jasper counties.) The purpose of respite care is to give the parent or primary caregiver a break from the daily responsibilities of caring for a child or adult with a disability. Flexible hours! You set your own schedule working directly with families and can work from home after initial trainings. Will need to be available for some evenings, weekends and hours that family would like to use respite. This position is great for college students, builds experience, and it is great for someone looking to give back or have a little extra supplemental income. Consistent communication required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Proficient in computer skills.
• Access to a computer or tablet and internet.
• Valid driver's license.
• Auto insurance.
• Good driving record.
• Ability to pass an extensive background check including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, Sex Offender registry and a criminal history check.

• Experience working with people with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Providing a break for the parent or guardian of an individual with a disability.
• Providing Respite a few hours in the evening up to a full weekend.
• Communicating with others, regardless of the other person's communication skills.
• Completing documentation using a computer or tablet and internet.
