About The Position

Sample Supports is seeking dependable and compassionate Respite Providers to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Respite services are scheduled to provide caregivers with planned breaks while ensuring the individual continues to receive safe, consistent, and person-centered support. Services may be provided in the individual’s home, the provider’s approved residence, or in community settings.

This application covers all three respite opportunities:
Live-In Respite Provider: Provides extended or overnight support in the individual’s home.
In-Home Respite Provider: Provides scheduled support in the individual’s private residence.
Community Respite Provider: Supports the individual with activities and experiences in your home.

Providers may be matched with individuals based on their availability, experience, preferences, and ability to meet the person’s specific needs.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation
• Ability to meet required motor vehicle record standards
• Ability and willingness to safely transport individuals when assigned
• Ability to pass required criminal background and Child and Adult Protection Services checks
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the assigned placement, which may include lifting or assisting with up to 75 pounds
• Willingness and ability to perform trained Nonviolent Crisis Intervention techniques when required
• Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately during challenging situations or emergencies
• Dependable communication and follow-through

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health needs, and trauma-informed care is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Provide respectful, person-centered care to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
• Follow the individual’s service plan, support plan, behavior plan, medical protocols, and established routines
• Assist with activities of daily living, which may include meals, hygiene, mobility, household routines, and personal care
• Provide emotional support, companionship, supervision, and meaningful engagement
• Support participation in recreational activities, appointments, and community outings
• Help individuals identify and access community resources, activities, relationships, and natural supports
• Provide or arrange transportation identified in the individual’s service plan
• Monitor the individual’s health, safety, and overall well-being throughout the respite period
• Administer or assist with medication only when trained, certified, authorized, and assigned
• Maintain required medical and service records
• Complete accurate and timely documentation for all services provided
• Communicate changes, concerns, incidents, or emergencies to the appropriate Sample Supports team member
• Maintain professional boundaries and protect the individual’s privacy and rights
• Report suspected mistreatment, abuse, neglect, or exploitation as a mandatory reporter
• Complete required training and follow all Sample Supports policies, procedures, and safety protocols
