The Guidance Center (TGC) is the Community Mental Health Center and Certified Behavioral Health Clinic serving Leavenworth, Atchison, and Jefferson counties in Kansas. We provide high-quality care to all individuals, regardless of their financial circumstances. We are deeply committed to our clients and are dedicated to implementing a comprehensive model of care. The Guidance Center (TGC) is currently seeking a Youth Attendant/Respite Care Worker to be the newest member of our innovative interdisciplinary team. This position will provide attendant care and/or respite care services to youth being served through the Center’s CBS program.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED required.
• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Must have six months experience working with youth. Experience gained through practicum experience or volunteer work can be included.

Nice To Haves

• One year of college course work or one year experience in the field of human services or a combination of each
• Experience working with youth with mental health issues.

Responsibilities

• Supervise youth attending Respite services
• Engage youth in structured activities to create a safe and productive environment.
• Abide by KDHE and TGC disciplinary policies and procedures when redirecting youth.
• Provide attendant care services which assist with promoting successful completion of daily activities
• Encourage and support clients’ engagement in pro-social activities
• Encourage and support clients’ efforts to effectively problem-solve and interact successfully with others
• Work respectfully and supportively with clients’ parents/caregivers, while observing appropriate boundaries
• Transport clients to and from activities or appointments when necessary.
• Serve as Transportation Attendant on transportation routes when required.
