The Guidance Center (TGC) is the Community Mental Health Center and Certified Behavioral Health Clinic serving Leavenworth, Atchison, and Jefferson counties in Kansas. We provide high-quality care to all individuals, regardless of their financial circumstances. The Guidance Center (TGC) is currently seeking a Respite Care Worker - PT to be the newest member of our innovative interdisciplinary team. This position provides attendant care and/or respite care services to youth being served through the Center’s CBS program.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED required.
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Six months experience working with youth. Experience gained through practicum experience or volunteer work can be included.
Nice To Haves
- One year of college course work or one year experience in the field of human services or a combination of each
- Experience working with youth with mental health issues.
Responsibilities
- Supervise youth attending Respite services
- Work with youth during structured activities to create a safe and productive environment.
- Encourage and support clients’ efforts to effectively problem-solve and interact successfully with others
- Work respectfully and supportively with clients’ parents/caregivers, while observing appropriate boundaries
- Transport clients to and from appointments and activities when necessary.
- Understand KDHE standards regarding respite care and licensing regulations
- Abide by KDHE and TGC disciplinary policy
- Understand direct service requirements/assignments and efficiency goals established by TGC for the position, and achieve same
- Provide documentation (clinical notes, reports, and other professional products) which complies with TGC’s Quality Improvement standards and the requirements of all funding sources.
- Organize work to meet direct service expectations and Center requirements
