About The Position

The Respiratory Therapy Tech is responsible for providing respiratory care services to patients as prescribed by physicians. This role involves assessing, treating, and caring for patients with breathing or other cardiopulmonary disorders, ensuring optimal respiratory function and patient comfort.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or a related field from an accredited program.
  • Certification as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting as a Respiratory Therapy Technician.
  • Experience in providing respiratory care to patients of all age groups, including neonates, pediatrics, and adults.
  • Proven track record of working effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Proficient in the use of respiratory care equipment, such as ventilators, nebulizers, and oxygen delivery systems.
  • Strong understanding of respiratory therapy protocols and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to assess patient conditions and make appropriate clinical decisions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining accurate patient records.
  • Capability to work in fast-paced environments and handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Administer respiratory therapy treatments and procedures according to physician prescriptions.
  • Monitor patient responses to therapy and adjust treatments as necessary.
  • Perform diagnostic tests such as measuring lung capacity and analyzing blood samples to determine levels of oxygen and other gases.
  • Educate patients and families about respiratory therapy and proper use of equipment.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and document treatment plans and progress.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Ensure all respiratory therapy equipment is properly maintained and functioning.
  • Stay updated with advancements in respiratory therapy practices and technologies.
  • Comply with all healthcare regulations and standards to ensure patient safety and quality care.
