About The Position
Supervises and coordinates Department operations and activities on a specified shift to ensure quality patient care and optimal operation and efficiency. Responsible for supervising staff, administering patient care, and assists staff in all aspects of Respiratory Care during assigned shift. Assists in the development and the monitoring of unit-specific systems and in the coordination of activities that improve the quality of patient care for each unit/floor. Supervises and monitors work of all the Respiratory Care Practitioners providing direct patient care. Assists with the evaluation of Employees on a specific shift. Provides professional respiratory care services to patients utilizing components of the Department process, which includes: organizing, planning, directing and evaluating the functions and provisions of the Respiratory Care Services to patients by effective supervision of personnel, use of equipment medical-legal aspects of patient care, effective communication skills within and between Departments and the close coordination with the Manager, Respiratory Care IT Coordinator, Medical Director and the Medical Staff by assuring methods of compliance with Joint Commission, Medicare, Medicaid conditions of participation and other regulator and practice standards. This position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients ranging in age from birth to adolescent.
Requirements
- Three (3) years experience in clinical Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, of which two years experience should be in intensive respiratory care.
- One (1) additional year with progressive leadership experience in specialty units (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Emergency Service, and/or Neonatal ICU) required.
- Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NRBC).
- Current Texas Medical Board Respiratory Care License.
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, STABLE, and BLS Certifications.
- Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty (NPS) certification required or obtained within 6 months.
- Completion of a two (2) year CoARC approved respiratory care program (Associates Degree).
- Thorough knowledge of all phases of Respiratory Care.
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to foster and facilitate effective working relationships and team building.
- Willingness to accept and manage change.
- Skilled in the use of computer systems and related software applications.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor degree in allied Health field preferred.
