About The Position

This role is for a Respiratory Therapy Intern at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, IN, within the Respiratory Care department. The schedule is rotating, PRN, with 3 shifts per 6-week schedule. The intern will administer and adjust respiratory medications and treatments, evaluating patient outcomes under supervision. They will monitor patient response to therapies and communicate condition changes promptly to the care team. Additionally, the intern will educate patients and families on respiratory health, medication, and treatment plans.

Requirements

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Temporary Permit Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Indiana Respiratory Care Committee obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date -Or- Student Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Indiana Respiratory Care Committee obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
High school diploma equivalency OR Enrolled in accredited program specific to discipline required.
Current Respiratory Therapy student in good standing
Students must be willing to float to the Emergency Department, ICU Units, General floors, the Burn Unit, and Peyton Manning Children's Hospital.

Responsibilities

Administer and adjust respiratory medications and treatments, evaluating patient outcomes under supervision for maximum effect.
Monitor patient response to therapies and communicate condition changes promptly to the care team.
Educate patients and families on respiratory health, medication, and treatment plans to foster active participation in recovery.
