About The Position

In a training capacity and under the close supervision of a Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, this position administers basic respiratory therapy care to patients. The extern performs a variety of duties related to the delivery of respiratory department services, including transporting patients and cleaning supplies and equipment. They participate in quality assessment and continuous quality improvement activities, and comply with all appropriate safety and infection control standards. All job duties and responsibilities are to be performed in a courteous and customer-focused manner according to the Hurley Family Standards of Behavior. The extern works under the close supervision of a Respiratory Therapy Supervisor or designee, who reviews work for conformance with established policies, procedures, and standards.
