About The Position

The Director Clinical Education, Respiratory Therapy oversees the coordination and availability of clinical placement sites to ensure high-quality experiential learning for students. This role is responsible for preparing students for clinical assignments through instructional support, lab practice, and classroom education, as well as managing required pre-placement processes such as scheduling, physicals, background checks, and drug testing to meet clinical site requirements.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy and a Bachelor's degree in any field (required)
  • Minimum of four (4) years experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, with two (2) years in clinical respiratory care and two (2) years as a faculty member or clinical preceptor in an accredited respiratory therapy program
  • Direct and specialized knowledge in the area of instruction (required)
  • Ability to use computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to process transactions, store documents, enter data, or perform assigned tasks
  • Demonstrate and utilize active listening, inductive reasoning, information ordering and category flexibility
  • Ability to use good judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information with discretion
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where deadlines are essential and multiple projects are worked simultaneously

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, evaluate, and document clinical education experiences in alignment with approved curriculum and program outcomes
  • Enforce and drive clinical education objectives that support student competency development and learning expectations
  • Coordinate clinical education activities to align with didactic instruction and program scheduling needs
  • Evaluate clinical education sites to confirm appropriate learning environments and instructional resources
  • Conduct and document regular clinical site visits to assess student progress and achievement of clinical objectives
  • Support quality assurance activities including data collection, reporting, program review, and advisory committee participation
  • Establish and maintain clinical affiliation agreements that meet institutional, regulatory, and program requirements
  • Supervise clinical education activities to ensure consistent application of program policies and procedures
  • Monitor and verify student compliance with health, background, and regulatory requirements prior to clinical placement
  • Oversee clinical instruction and supervision to ensure students meet program completion and licensure readiness requirements
  • Establish/maintain a high performance team of professional, motivated and engaged staff utilizing effective training, performance management and career-development activities while leading them to achieve established business results and performance metrics
