About The Position

MercyOne North Iowa is seeking a Respiratory Therapist, HME to join their team. This role involves providing clinical respiratory services in various settings including client homes, assisted living facilities, and long-term care facilities within a 4-county area spanning Iowa and Illinois. The therapist will be responsible for evaluating and instructing clients on the use and maintenance of home respiratory equipment such as oxygen, CPAP/BiPAP, suction, and apnea monitors. The position also includes delivering, setting up, and picking up equipment, troubleshooting and performing minor repairs, maintaining documentation, and responding to on-call client needs. MercyOne is a large healthcare provider committed to improving community health and is a teaching institution with various residency and fellowship programs.

Requirements

  • Must be credentialed as a certified respiratory therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care upon hire.
  • Must have an active license as a respiratory care practitioner in the State of Iowa upon hire.
  • Must have or obtain an active license in each state services are being provided in.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and provide proof of personal liability insurance.
  • Must be BLS certified within 3 months of hire.
  • Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in home care preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical respiratory services in client homes, assisted living facilities, long term care facilities and other locations where home respiratory equipment is required.
  • Evaluate equipment in patient homes according to an established schedule.
  • Provide instruction for therapy and/or equipment use for home self-care as directed by physician referral.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation of client home or facility visits.
  • Receive and write verbal or phone orders pertaining to respiratory care.
  • Respond to on-call client needs.
  • Deliver, set-up, and pick-up, equipment and related products in client homes and institutions.
  • Educate clients on the proper home use and maintenance of equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and make minor repairs on equipment that is suspected of malfunctioning.
