Role Overview: Under the medical direction and supervision of a physician, Respiratory Therapists plan and implement a variety of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures for patients suffering from a wide range of cardiac and pulmonary disorders. In the RT role, you will have the opportunity to provide mechanical ventilatory support to victims of motor-vehicle accident, stroke or heart attack. You will support patients undergoing abdominal, thoracic or open-heart surgery. You will assist pediatrics patients and premature infants in their quest to breathe and you perform various breathing tests to provide diagnostics information in the Pulmonary Function Laboratory. The Respiratory Therapy Department at HSN provides 24 – hour coverage.

Requirements

  • Current certification of registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario. Candidates expected to obtain registration in the next few months and recent graduates are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.
  • Demonstrated clinical competence in the assigned Core Group.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others.
  • Proof of ongoing commitment to self-development.
  • Demonstrated positive work record and good attendance record.
  • Bilingualism required.

Nice To Haves

  • Adult teaching and supervisory experience is considered an asset.
