Experiened Respiratory Therapist

Renown Health•Reno, NV

About The Position

The Clinical Respiratory Therapist performs respiratory therapy procedures according to protocol and physician orders to improve cardiopulmonary conditions in patients from newborn through geriatric age. Therapists primarily work in critical care units and adult and pediatric general care, and may provide respiratory care at a secondary care site consistent with Renown Health’s mission and obligations. The role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and their families. Patient assessment supports the effective application of protocols, which authorize therapists to initiate or adjust care within a structured set of provider orders as a patient’s condition changes. Therapists document patient records and department logs, keep current with relevant technological advances and their clinical applications, and use continuous mental effort and judgment to provide safe patient care and interact with others. The therapist is responsible for supporting a positive patient experience by introducing themselves, explaining the task and its duration, and thanking the patient. When an experience does not go well, they listen empathetically, apologize, resolve the issue when possible, escalate it when needed, and thank the patient for the feedback. This position provides patient care.
