This position can be a .6 or .75 Night shift. Every 3rd weekend. SIGN-ON BONUS. NIGHT SHIFT BONUS. SHIFT DIFFERENTIALS. Job Summary Applies scientific knowledge, technical expertise and theory to practical clinical problems and is often required to exercise clinical judgment. Provides therapeutic, diagnostic, consultative and supportive services for neonatal through adult patients and their families. Actively participates in resuscitative and emergent situations. Provides patient care in a mobile environment to high risk patients and their families being transported to/from Children's Hospital of Wisconsin-Fox Valley via ground transportation Responsible for providing quality assessment, therapeutic interventions, and clinical expertise to the neonatal and infant population under two months of age in the transport environment. May transport older pediatric patients if required.

Requirements

Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy required
License Respiratory Care Practitioner (28) - State of Wisconsin required
RRT-Registered Respiratory Therapist - The National Board for Respiratory Care within 1 Year required
BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council required
NRP-Neonatal Resuscitation Provider - American Academy of Pediatrics/American Heart Association within 90 Days required
PALS-Pediatric Advanced Life Support - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council within 90 Days required
Basic personal computer skills required.
Must possess analytical skills necessary to resolve complex clinical problems relating to respiratory care issues and patient safety and welfare.
Ability to work independently and utilize time management, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills.
Ability to cope with physically and mentally stressful situations.
Interpersonal skills which frequently involve collaborating with peers, supervisors and medical staff on issues in order to accomplish objectives for patient care.
Maintains and demonstrates the ability to rotate shifts and/or work flexible hours to meet patient care needs.
Ability to stand and walk for up to eighty percent of work time when performing job assignments or responding to emergency calls.
Ability to push or pull equipment that may weigh up to 170 lb.
Ability to lift equipment/supplies up to 25 lb.
Ability to lift or move patients.
Ability to assemble complex equipment and perform fine motor skills.
Demonstrates analytical skills necessary to resolve complex clinical problems in a mobile environment.
Must pass pre-placement physical exam within the physical capacity evaluation (PCE). This will include annual weight, blood pressure, hearing, and vision screening.
must be able to lift/carry 65 pounds, push/pull up to 40 pounds occasionally, reach overhead moderately, climb moderately, squat/bend/kneel occasionally, sit/stand moderately, walk/move about frequently, tolerate tight quarters, small spaces and sit in a confined space.

Nice To Haves

1+ years of critical care experience in neonatal, pediatric, or adult critical care ICU experience to perform transport duties preferred.
Neonatal Pediatric Respiratory Care Specialist preferred.
Current employees who graduated prior to January 1, 2005 will be grandfathered with current CRT credential.

Responsibilities

Initiates, performs and maintains Respiratory Care Competencies in accordance with all quality and safety standards.
Determines techniques for ensuring optimal patient care based on expected outcomes.
Demonstrates prioritization, critical-thinking and decision-making skills.
Performs tasks as necessary including, but not limited to, orientation, student and staff precepting, external transport and relief charge.
Accurately bills for respiratory care modalities.
Identifies and responds to emergent/urgent situations.
Performs waived and non-waived moderately complex testing in accordance with established laboratory, hospital and regulatory policies and procedures.
Participates in the discharge process in a collaborative manner with patients, families and the health care team.
Provides and documents education to patients/families to promote wellness, and enhance adaptation to illness, injury, health conditions and/or special health care needs.
Participates as an active member of the case management process.
Assists in the development and validation of patient care standards for the transport patient population.
Assists with developing educational material for CHW-FV staff, referring staff, parents, patients, and pre-hospital personnel.
Acts as a team member and collaborates with the health care team to assure a team approach which provides efficient patient care practices.
Communicates and collaborates effectively in a timely manner.
Maintains good working relationships with the health care team in solving problems/issues in delivery of services.
Provides constructive feedback to peers, resolves conflicts and issues in a timely manner and refers issues to appropriate management as necessary.
Keeps supervisor/charge therapist apprised of shift activities and work flow issues.
Seeks counsel and or assistance from the RCS Leadership Team and Medical Director when appropriate.
Responsible for maintaining departmental responsibilities by attending educational offerings, in-services, and department and hospital meetings.
Identifies annual goals for own professional growth and the means by which to achieve them in collaboration with supervisor.
Aware of and works toward the accomplishment of department and hospital goals.
Represents department on inter-disciplinary committees/work groups as applicable.
Keeps current regarding Respiratory Care trends and developments.
Maintains department responsibilities in Transport by attending educational offerings, staff meetings, departmental and hospital interdisciplinary meetings, case reviews, and recurrence training.
Participates in new product/procedure evaluation and provides timely feedback which contributes to the decision making process.
Participates in unit improvement activities including continuing education, research, quality assurance and cost reduction measures.
Assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of CHW-FV Transport departmental operations, policies, procedures, products, programs relating to the transport environment and patient population.
Facilitates the ground transport process by obtaining pertinent patient history and clinical status, communicating information with medical control, obtaining acceptance from the receiving attending physician, arranges mode of transport, and dispatches the team within the individual’s scope of practice.
Collaborates with other team members in the planning and provision of optimal patient care during the transport process.
Effectively communicates with parents and families throughout the transport process.
Provides care appropriate to patient population and as described in applicable policies and procedures.
