About The Position
The Respiratory Therapist will be responsible for providing respiratory care and assessments, ensuring equipment is utilized properly, and providing oversight of the respiratory care provided by nursing staff. This position will assess, evaluate, and make RT care recommendations to the nursing staff; document respiratory care provided to patients and train nursing staff in respiratory therapy.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited respiratory therapy program.
- Clinical rotations completed during education program, and experience in administering respiratory therapy treatments.
- Must obtain and maintain Virginia State licensure through the Virginia Board of Medicine National board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) credentials required: Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential, Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and/or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Responsibilities
- Perform respiratory care to include complicated tracheostomy tube changes.
- Perform respiratory assessments to include advance cases.
- Checks equipment to ensure that it is being utilizes properly and the patient is benefitting from the equipment.
- Provide oversight of the respiratory care provided by the nursing staff.
