About The Position

Bartlett Regional Hospital is looking for a Respiratory Therapist to join our Respiratory Therapy team! This is a full-time position. The Respiratory Therapist 1 is a recent graduate who provides respiratory care under the supervision of a licensed respiratory therapist. This role assists with basic therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, such as oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, and patient monitoring, while gaining hands-on experience and developing clinical skills. The Respiratory Therapist 2 is a journey-to-advanced therapist who provides respiratory care independently. This position provides respiratory care to patients across all age groups from newborn to elder in accordance with physician orders and established protocols. This role requires clinical expertise in therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, ventilator management, and emergency response. The Respiratory Therapist 3 is an advanced therapist who provides respiratory care independently, serving as a clinical expert and mentor, supporting staff development and high-quality care. This role precepts RT staff and students, contributes to education, protocols, and quality initiatives, and participates in committees. The RT3 is a key resource for clinical knowledge and helps advance department goals through leadership and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) licensure and/or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) (RT 1, RT 2, RT 3).
  • One (1) year of recent respiratory therapy experience (RT 2).
  • Six (6) months as a Respiratory Therapist 1 at BRH as a substitution for experience (RT 2).
  • Hospital / acute care experience (RT 2 - Preferred).
  • BLS certification (RT 2, RT 3).
  • Three (3) years of recent clinical respiratory therapy experience (in the last five years) (RT 3).
  • Eighteen (18) months of full-time experience at BRH as an RT 2 as a substitution for experience (RT 3).
  • Must demonstrate clinical competency in ED, CCU, OB and outpatient care (RT 3).
  • ACLS certification (RT 3).
  • PALS certification (RT 3).
  • NRP certification (RT 3).
  • STABLE certification (RT 3).
  • TEAM/CPI certification (RT 3).
  • Produce a negative drug screen for all illegal substances in the State of Alaska prior to the start of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in respiratory therapy or related field (RT 3).
