About The Position

The System Wide Seasonal Team is a Full Time, Benefited, Limited tenure Scripps employee position that supports assignments of 13 or 26 weeks. This role requires flexibility in shift work, including willingness to work either day or night shifts, and the ability to float to any of the 5 Scripps hospitals located in San Diego. A completion bonus of $7K is available at the end of the initial 13-week assignment. The pay rate is a seasonal flat rate of $48.89. The Scripps System-wide Resource Services (SSRS) department supports the entire Scripps Health system. As a member of the float team, you will fill vital roles on assignments throughout the system to provide critical coverage for employee leave of absences, sick calls, and peak service demands, while gaining experience in various environments. As a Respiratory Therapist on the Scripps SSRS team, you will provide direct patient care within the scope of your practice. This includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating respiratory care in collaboration with other caregivers. You will perform all technical diagnostic and therapeutic procedures related to respiratory care, and other core responsibilities necessary to maintain patient care flow and comfort. You will also respond to critical situations, utilize computer systems for duties, adhere to hospital and departmental policies, and participate in Quality Control, preventative maintenance, and performance improvement activities.

Requirements

  • One (1) or more years RCP acute care experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Enjoys working with the public.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and follow instructions in English.
  • Technically competent in the department skills inventory.
  • Computer literate.
  • Current California RCP license required.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of one or two year AMA School of Respiratory Care.
  • Ventilator experience is strongly preferred.
  • NRP Certification.
  • NICU Experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate actions for respiratory care in collaboration with other caregivers.
  • Perform all technical diagnostic and therapeutic procedures related to respiratory care.
  • Perform other core responsibilities necessary to maintain the flow of patient care and comfort in the unit.
