About The Position

Under limited supervision, the Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing Cardiopulmonary care services in accordance with specific physician orders, department policies and procedures. The Respiratory Therapist administers respiratory care and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system, performs diagnostic tests of the cardiovascular and pulmonary system to aid physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of heart and lung disorders.

Requirements

  • Current State and National Respiratory Therapist Licensure.
  • Graduate of an American Medical Association approved School of Respiratory Therapy.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hire
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or must be obtained within six (6) months of hire
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification or must be obtained within six (6) months of hire
  • Knowledge in respiratory therapy services.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to determine appropriate course of action in more complex situations.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, and legal information.
  • Ability to complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians, or others in a professional manner.

  • Evaluation of Hypoxemia and/ or Desaturation via Exercise Testing
  • Application of Holter Monitors
  • Incentive Spirometry
  • Management of Aerosol Delivery
  • Management of Oxygen Therapy in the Acute Care Hospital Environment
  • Management of Oxygen Therapy in the Long-Term Care Environment
  • Management of Simple Pneumonia
  • Nasotracheal Suctioning
  • Overnight Pulse Oximetry
  • Oxygen Administration
  • Patient Assisted Coughing
  • Patient Ventilator Maintenance/ Monitoring
  • Plain Aerosol Administration
  • Positive Airway Pressure Supports ie: CPAP/ BIPAP/ AVAP
  • Postural Drainage and Percussion
  • Pulse Oximetry
  • Rehabilitation Services Cardiac/ Pulmonary
  • Respiratory Patients Requiring Humidification
  • Unattended Sleep Studies
  • Spirometry
  • Pulmonary Function Test
  • Transport of the Patient Requiring Mechanical Ventilation
  • Electrocardiography
  • Treadmill Stress Testing
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
