About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions at a critical illness recovery hospital delivering inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients requiring extended healing and recovery. The role includes evaluating patients, recommending treatment plans, performing endotracheal tube insertion and removal, promoting continuous quality improvement, and teaching and counseling patients and families. The position is full-time in Des Moines, Iowa, with a 12-hour day shift. The posting notes that the hospital has one floor, so therapists do not need to float to another floor. Compensation is $31.96–$43.00 per hour, plus weekend differential, with a $15,000 sign-on bonus.

Requirements

Possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
Provide proof of graduation: a college transcript or diploma is preferred; a high school transcript or diploma or GED is also accepted.
Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
Hold current state licensure.
Obtain ACLS within six months of hire. Agency respiratory therapists must have ACLS by their first shift, and PRN staff must have ACLS upon hire.
