About The Position

The Registered Respiratory Therapist works with a team in a culture of learning and advancement, applying scientific values, therapies, and techniques to improve patient care and outcomes. The role provides respiratory care services in coordination with attending physicians and the care team, follows established procedures and policies, and supports continuous improvement in clinical care.

Requirements

Associate's degree or two years of work experience above the minimum qualification.
Less than one year of experience.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer.
Licensed by the State of Texas Medical Board as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP).
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care.
General knowledge of respiratory care modalities, therapies, equipment, and medications.
Ability to read, write, and follow flow chart protocols as appropriate.
Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
General computer skills, including data entry, information security, electronic medical documentation, hand-held scanning, and email.

Responsibilities

Performs and directs respiratory care services, including oxygen and aerosol therapy.
Works with the attending physician and care team to provide patient care.
Administers care according to established procedures and quality standards.
Administers cardiopulmonary resuscitation in emergencies.
Follows policies for infection control, isolation, HIPAA, time and attendance, and social media.
Works professionally with peers and patients to support a positive work environment and good outcomes.
Develops and enhances professional and technical skills.
Identifies, implements, and shares opportunities to improve patient care through continuous quality improvement.
