About The Position

Administer treatment and perform Respiratory Therapy modalities throughout multiple healthcare settings, including the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Room. This role requires knowledge and competence in mechanical ventilation and artificial airways, acting as a Physician's Assistant for intubations, and assisting during Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. The therapist will treat and manage mechanically ventilated patients of all age groups, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development principles. The position emphasizes teamwork, prioritization of duties, and flexibility with scheduling, including holidays and weekends. The pay range for this position is $35.74 - $53.66.

Requirements

  • An Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in Respiratory Care (Therapy).
  • Current License to practice as a Certified Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist in New York State.
  • Recognized by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
  • 2 years prior experience performing duties specifically in a critical care setting is required.
  • Making rapid clinically sound decisions independently, efficiently, and effectively.
  • Compliant in Ethical and legal standards of care.
  • Maintains professionalism within the organizations internal and external customers.
  • ACLS Current

Nice To Haves

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist preferred.
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (must obtain Registry within 6 Months of hire)
  • NRP (within 6 Months of Hire)
  • S.T.A.B.L.E. (Within 1 year of Hire)

Responsibilities

  • Administer treatment and perform Respiratory Therapy modalities.
  • Utilize mechanical ventilation and artificial airways.
  • Act as Physician's Assistant for intubation.
  • Assist during Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
  • Treat and manage mechanical ventilated patients of all age groups.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development.

  • Review the Medical Record to obtain pertinent clinical information.
  • Evaluate data, assess patient objectively and subjectively, and recommend diagnostic testing and therapies.
  • Implement and/or administer all prescribed testing, therapies and/or protocols.
  • Provide pertinent patient/family education.
  • Determine appropriateness of and participate in recommending modifications to respiratory care treatment plans.
  • Provide accurate, thorough documentation in the Medical Record.
  • Attend department meetings and actively engage.
  • Maintain yearly competencies both Departmental and legal.
  • Collaborate with the Respiratory team, Physicians, and Nursing.
  • Clean, maintain and document all Respiratory Equipment.
  • Participate in employee skills labs or competencies.
  • Support Corning Hospital's Customer Service initiatives.
  • Utilize time to departments and organizations best advantage, maximizing productivity and efficiency.
  • Consistently strive to meet assigned deadlines.
  • Exhibit initiative and accept personal responsibility for performance of job requirements.
