About The Position

Provides leadership in all Respiratory Care procedures in a critical care environment by practicing evidence-based medicine through respiratory care protocols. Functions at a role model level, participates in quality, research, and education assignments. Applies the respiratory care process to plan and manage the care of complex patients in a comprehensive manner. Assists in developing and meeting key Pillar outcomes and system improvement goals. Serves in an advocacy role on behalf of patients, families, and caregivers to ensure safe, equitable healthcare provision. Ensures evidence-based care and continuously monitors patient outcomes. Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according Board of Respiratory Care standards.   • Respiratory Therapeutic Procedures (Advanced): Demonstrates the uppermost levels of expertise in applying respiratory therapeutic procedures in challenging and complex situations. Often takes a lead role in highly pressurized situations when there is a need to achieve results. Consistently delivers respiratory therapeutic procedures in a creative and imaginative manner while setting a standard for others. Actively participates in outside professional organizations and forums. Contributes in the development of respiratory therapeutic procedures best practices for the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and recommends appropriate treatment and therapy for patients requiring Respiratory Care.
  • Maintains direct involvement with patients participating in research projects or quality improvement projects.
  • Provides formal content approved in-service education for medical team.
  • Member of the Critical Care Respiratory Care team a critical care unit or the Emergency Department Regularly, is assigned to a Critical Care Unit or Emergency Department >75 % of the worked schedule.
  • Member of one of the following specialty teams: (First Breath, NICU, ED, Critical Resource, PICU/PCICU, Acute Care, Pediatric Transport Team).
  • Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements respiratory care delivery while anticipating patient care needs.
  • Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine respiratory care diagnosis.
  • Continually utilizes the respiratory care guidelines and protocols to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
