About The Position

We are hiring for positions ranging from NEW GRADS to RESPIRATORY THERAPIST 4, within the specialties of Adult/Pediatrics/Flight/Diagnostic where experience will determine qualification and locations may vary from main hospital to other sites. The Respiratory Therapist 2 learns, performs and completes assignments/responsibilities assigned during the transitional duty period. This position provides safe and effective respiratory care as an advanced Respiratory Therapist for neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric populations in accordance with discipline training, Clinical Practice Guidelines, and hospital standards and protocols. This position serves as a respiratory care resource and educator for patients, caregivers, hospital staff and students. If applicable, this position functions as a shift team leader in the absence of the supervisor.

Requirements

Licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Respiratory Therapist required
Current certification or registry from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required
Current CPR certification as required by practice setting
On or after 1/1/2015, new hires must be current RRT.
Current license as a Respiratory Therapist by the Commonwealth of Virginia required
Current CRT or RRT required
Current CPR certification as required by practice setting
Current NRP certification as required by practice setting
On or after 1/1/2015, new hires must be current RRT.
One (1) year of work experience as a Respiratory Therapist
Education, training and/or experience that has satisfied the eligibility requirements for the National Board for Respiratory Care (or its predecessor organizations)
Cardiopulmonary assessment and monitoring, including during emergency response
Airway care
Selecting appropriate ventilators and non-ordered ventilator parameters

Nice To Haves

Current related credentials from the NBRC or National Asthma Educator Certification Board (NAECB) preferred
Current ACLS and/or PALS preferred
Two (2) years of work experience as a Respiratory Therapist
Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy from a Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) accredited program

Responsibilities

Learns, performs and completes assignments/responsibilities assigned during the transitional duty period.
Provides safe and effective respiratory care as an advanced Respiratory Therapist for neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric populations in accordance with discipline training, Clinical Practice Guidelines, and hospital standards and protocols.
Serves as a respiratory care resource and educator for patients, caregivers, hospital staff and students.
Functions as a shift team leader in the absence of the supervisor, if applicable.
Performs shift team leader role in the supervisor’s absence, if applicable.
Consults with physicians and interdisciplinary team members regarding the appropriateness of the patient care plan.
Maintains work areas in a clean and well stocked manner.
