About The Position

This Respiratory Therapist role involves providing superior respiratory care and coordination of hospice services to patients at their end of life journey. The care must meet specific patient needs, Ohio’s Hospice standards, and Medicare Conditions of Participation (COP), with the goal of achieving a comfortable and peaceful death for patients. Respiratory visits are prioritized based on emergent needs, diagnosis, and complex equipment requirements. Required patient visits include those with diagnoses such as ALS, COPD, Pulmonary Fibrosis, and Respiratory Failure. Visits for patients with lung cancer are conducted based on nurse request or the respiratory complexity of the patient’s care. Complex needs that require attention include C-PAP, BiPAP, Tracheostomy, and high flow O2. Ohio’s Hospice mandates that all staff receive one of the three approved COVID-19 vaccines, though medical or religious exemption requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Requirements

  • CRT or RRT license in the state of Ohio with no board action.
  • CPR Certified
  • Computer skills sufficient to properly document services and care.
  • Ability to drive during daytime, nighttime or inclement weather.
  • Valid Driver's License with Safe Driving Record
  • State Minimum Automobile Insurance Coverage
  • Administration and completion of one of the 3 approved COVID-19 vaccines (exemption requests considered).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in hospital, home care and DME settings preferred.
  • Knowledge of C-PAP, BiPAP, High Flow O2, tracheostomy and transport needs of complex respiratory patients.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize respiratory visits on patients’ emergent needs, diagnosis, and complex equipment needs.
  • Conduct respiratory patient visits for patients with a diagnosis of ALS, COPD, Pulmonary Fibrosis, and Respiratory Failure.
  • Conduct visits for patients with lung cancer based on nurse request or respiratory complexity of patient’s care.
