The Respiratory Therapist (RT) - Adults - Weekender Program is responsible for providing and coordinating comprehensive respiratory care. This role administers respiratory care procedures and modalities in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures. Using evidence-based practices, clinical decision making, and skilled communication, the therapist compassionately leads efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum, under the guidance of a licensed respiratory therapist in designated areas per site discretion. The position involves operating specialized ventilators, assisting physicians with procedures, providing medication treatments, maintaining equipment, and educating patients on therapy and disease management. The therapist must adapt to policies and procedures for various service areas, perform required tasks, and maintain performance standards. A strong emphasis is placed on promoting a culture of safety by recognizing and applying proper safety measures and reporting patient safety events. The role requires the ability to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development principles and assessing patient status based on age-specific needs.
