About The Position
Select Specialty Hospital - Akron is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU care to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. The Respiratory Therapist provides compassionate respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions. This is a per diem/PRN position in Akron, Ohio, with a schedule of 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and compensation of $44.00 per hour. The hospital offers an extensive orientation program and potential opportunities to move into a full-time role.
Requirements
- Possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
- Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
- Hold current state licensure.
- Hold ACLS certification upon hire; agency respiratory therapists must have ACLS by their first shift.

- One year of related experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
- Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
- Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
- Promote continuous quality improvement.
- Teach and counsel patients and families.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
