About The Position
Heinzerling Community is seeking compassionate, dedicated Respiratory Therapists to enhance the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities. The Respiratory Therapist oversees respiratory care under the orders of the Medical Director and supports residents, including those receiving ventilator support. The role also includes completing documentation, communicating about respiratory needs, maintaining respiratory equipment, and providing ongoing staff training.
Requirements
- Valid Ohio license or permit to practice respiratory care.
- Maintain current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Successfully pass a background check and drug screen.

- Experience with the developmental disabilities population and individuals with highly complex, continuous needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality respiratory therapy services to residents using patient monitoring equipment.
- Manage acute and chronic respiratory care in collaboration with the Medical Director and Nursing team.
- Assist in developing and maintaining respiratory-related policies and procedures.
- Train staff who work with residents needing respiratory assistance.
- Assess the knowledge and skills of staff providing direct respiratory services.
- Develop respiratory-related education for staff and families and provide annual and as-needed training to ensure competency.
- Evaluate, track, and maintain respiratory-related equipment.
- Complete respiratory-care documentation and communicate about residents’ respiratory needs.
