About The Position

Under direction, plans, organizes, and provides patient care including, but not limited to, respiratory therapy, sleep medicine, electrocardiography (EKG), pulmonary function testing, blood gas analysis, cardiac stress testing, Holter monitoring, and related services. Ensures the proper care and maintenance of assigned equipment, completes documentation, and performs related work as required. The Respiratory Therapist reports to and is under the administrative direction of the Cardiopulmonary Manager, and works closely with staff across the organization.. Principal Functions and Responsibilities: This specification does not restrict managements right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time. Identifies and implements annual goals in keeping with the Valor Health mission, vision, and strategic plan. Plans, organizes, and provides patient care based on cardiopulmonary needs of the patient. Demonstrates skills of critical thinking, positive conflict management, and personal development. Collaborates effectively with nursing and other personnel. Demonstrates financial stewardship by utilizing all resources in an effective, economical manner. Participates in the development of new cardiopulmonary services and programs. Consults and communicates with the Cardiopulmonary manager to keep informed of both clinical and non-clinical needs, and patient care activities. Communicates effectively with physicians and other providers both verbally and in writing. Ensures conformance with applicable accreditation, licensing, and quality standards. Participates in ongoing Quality Improvement studies within the Cardiopulmonary services unit. Promotes patient experience by maintaining a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients, families, and visitors in accordance with hospital standards. Assists other members of the healthcare team as necessary to ensure continuity of care.Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops. Maintains positive and effective relations with coworkers, other departments, patients, family members, and visitors.

Requirements

  • Respiratory Therapist credential by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
  • Valid current Idaho State license to practice respiratory therapy.
  • BLS, ACLS, NRP, PALS, STABLE required within six months of hire.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push and pull 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate therapy equipment, operate a computer, and to handle supplies/medications.
  • Mobility, flexibility, and dexterity sufficient to move patients and equipment, and to respond to emergency/critical situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of two years’ experience providing respiratory care services in an acute care setting preferred.
