You’ll support departmental operations while providing safe, effective treatment to patients experiencing cardiopulmonary difficulties.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited respiratory program with at least an associate degree
  • Current Oklahoma RCP license or Provisional Letter (valid until Board meeting date listed)
  • NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required and maintained
  • BLS required
  • ACLS and PALS required within six (6) months of hire; annual recertification required
  • SECURE training required within six (6) months of hire
  • Some clinical experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Typing and basic computer skills required

  • NRP preferred

Responsibilities

  • Obtaining data pertinent to therapy through chart review and physical assessment
  • Administering oxygen therapy, aerosol and humidity therapy, trach care and management, chest physiotherapy, incentive spirometry, suctioning, bedside respiratory measurements, pulse oximetry, and EKGs
  • Completing new therapy starts within one hour and responding promptly to emergency situations
  • Functioning within the Oklahoma Respiratory Care Practitioner scope of practice
  • Cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing equipment per SMRMC policy
  • Routinely cleaning and assembling departmental equipment before end of shift and checking assigned areas for dirty equipment
  • Providing complete and competent ventilatory management for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients, including treatments, airway management, and tracheal suctioning
  • Documenting patient status and care provided, including heart rate, respiratory rate, SaO₂, lung sounds, treatment effectiveness, and any adverse reactions
  • Adhering to the “five rights” of medication administration and using two patient identifiers
  • Consistently documenting in iView
