About The Position

Murfreesboro Rehabilitation Hospital is hiring a Respiratory Therapist (PRN) to be a part of their fast-paced, dedicated, and innovative team. The hospital specializes in neuro and ortho rehabilitation, serving patients referred from surrounding areas. They offer a comprehensive range of services including occupational, physical, speech, and respiratory therapy, along with IV therapy, wound care, and rehabilitation nursing. The hospital's goal is to improve the quality of life for patients recovering from various conditions such as injury, illness, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, stroke, or disabilities, through the therapeutic use of everyday activities. The facility features a large therapy gym with state-of-the-art equipment and an 'activities of daily living area' equipped with a kitchen and laundry area, ensuring patients receive focused care and comprehensive support. Murfreesboro Rehabilitation Hospital is located within TrustPoint Hospital and is the only acute, hospital-based inpatient physical rehabilitation center in Rutherford County.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an academic and clinical respiratory program accredited by CAAHEP required.
  • Current State licensure as required by the state in which the facility operates.
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility.

  • One or more years’ respiratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the state of the patient’s lung health in a systematic and organized manner.
  • Provide emergency care, such as artificial respiration or assistance with cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Read prescription, measure arterial blood gases and review patient information to assess patient condition.
  • Monitor patient’s physiological responses to therapy such as vital signs, arterial blood gases or blood chemistry changes and consult with physician if adverse reactions occur.
  • Set up and operate devices such as noninvasive mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatuses, environmental control systems or aerosol generators, following specified parameters of treatment.
  • Evaluate status of interventions and patient goals for the purpose of reassessment, revision of plan of care and discharge planning.
  • Delegate, supervise and/or collaborate with other members of the healthcare team in the delivery and documentation of safe and effective therapy.
  • Record prognosis, treatment, response and progress in patient's chart or enters information into computer.
  • Identify and document goals, anticipated progress and plans for reevaluation.
  • Inspect, clean, test and maintain respiratory therapy equipment to ensure equipment is functioning safely and efficiently, order repairs when necessary.
  • Instruct patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home.
  • Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always. When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.
  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
