About The Position

Provides respiratory therapy modalities within the scope of practice to patients according to department standards. The role includes administering medical gas therapy, evaluating therapy effectiveness, collaborating on respiratory care plans, reviewing and documenting patient information, maintaining equipment, and monitoring patients during treatment.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree from an accredited college.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• State of Maryland license of eligibility as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Administer medical gas therapy in accordance with department procedures.
• Evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness of therapies for continuation or discontinuation according to department standards.
• Prepare and collaborate with advanced practitioners and clinical specialists to implement respiratory care plans.
• Review charts, including orders, lab values, and chest X-rays, according to department policy, and accurately document care provided.
• Operate and maintain equipment in a safe and sanitary condition, following department guidelines, and return equipment to the department upon patient discharge.
• Observe patients during therapies for adverse reactions, monitor their response to therapy, and act according to department policy when problems arise.
