About The Position

StaffFlex contract, 13 weeks. Delivers routine respiratory treatments and continuous respiratory therapy including aerosol therapy, lung expansion therapy, oxygen therapy, and bronchial hygiene. Monitors, instructs, and coaches patients before, during, and after treatment delivery. Prevents and/or resolves untoward side effects and adjusts therapies according to protocol and documented clinical criteria. Reevaluates patient/ventilator interface a minimum of every four hours, responds to alarms, and troubleshoots as needed. Establishes weaning readiness and facilitates the weaning process, adjusting ventilator settings in accordance with patient progress. Draws and analyzes arterial and capillary blood gases, places arterial lines, and makes or recommends changes in respiratory management according to blood gas results. Recommends changes in respiratory plan of care according to documented medical necessity and within established protocols. Ensures the effectiveness of therapist assessment and reassessment by monitoring patient progress. Makes and/or recommends changes based on pulse oximetry, peak flow measurement, chest x-ray, lab work, and other data relevant to optimal patient progress. Initiates and maintains mechanical ventilation, determining or guiding the determination of ventilator mode and settings. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in respiratory care [Required]
  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
  • State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) [Required] OR State Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) [Required]
  • Patient care skills to care for neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient populations are required.
