About The Position

Fairview is hiring a Respiratory Therapist to join our Respiratory Therapy team at our Lakes Medical Center location in Wyoming, MN. We’re offering a $9,000 sign-on bonus! The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing diagnostic and therapeutic services as prescribed by a physician. Follows defined treatment protocol according to department policies. Collects, assesses, interprets, and intervenes as appropriate in the care of neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Ensures patient welfare and safety standards during treatments. Schedule: This position will be working 0.6 FTE (48 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the night shift. There is currently an every 3rd weekend requirement. Shift differential incentives: $4.00/hr for nights $2.00/hr for weekends

Requirements

  • A.A./A.S. in Respiratory Care/Therapy or related field
  • Respiratory Therapist License issued by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 6 months of hire
  • Pediatric Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire

Nice To Haves

  • B.S./B.A. in Respiratory Care/Therapy or related field experience
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)

Responsibilities

  • Perform Pulmonary Function test on ages 5 years and older.
  • Perform 6 minute walk tests, ABG's, Methacholine testing, Pre/Post spirometry, DLCO, MIP/MEP, MVV, Pleth, nitrogen washout.
  • Assessing patient needs and identifies expected outcomes.
  • Implementing Respiratory interventions based on plan of care.
  • Evaluating care and the patient’s response to interventions and expected outcomes.
  • Delivering care as delegated by physician/authorized practitioner to assigned patient population, or individual patient.
  • Using communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes.
  • Operating and maintaining all Respiratory Care equipment.
