About The Position

Fairview is hiring a Respiratory Therapist to join our Respiratory Therapy Float Team. Locations include University of MN Medical Center: East and West Bank Hospitals, Southdale Hospital, Ridges Hospital, Northland Medical Center, Lakes Medical Center, St John's Hospital, and Woodwinds Hospital. As part of the flex workforce, this position will be responsible to float to multiple Fairview sites in the Twin Cities metro area. This role will require taking multi-week assignments at designated hospitals to support staffing needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn and grow as an RT. You will have the opportunity to work across multiple hospital sites, gaining valuable experience with a highly diverse patient population and varied clinical needs. The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing diagnostic and therapeutic services as prescribed by a physician. Follows defined treatment protocol according to department policies. Collects, assesses, interprets, and intervenes as appropriate in the care of neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Ensures patient welfare and safety standards during treatments.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Care/Therapy or related field
  • Respiratory Therapist License issued by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 6 months of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Care/Therapy or related field
  • 3 years of Respiratory Therapy experience in a clinical setting
  • 3 years of NICU and/or PICU experience in a clinical setting

Responsibilities

  • Assessing patient needs and identifies expected outcomes.
  • Implementing Respiratory interventions based on plan of care.
  • Evaluating care and the patient’s response to interventions and expected outcomes.
  • Delivering care as delegated by physician/authorized practitioner to assigned patient population, or individual patient.
  • Operating and maintaining all Respiratory Care equipment
