About The Position

This full-time Night shift position for a Respiratory Therapist on the AirCare Neo/Peds Team at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center is responsible for providing respiratory therapies following age-appropriate standards of care and departmental guidelines. The role involves critical care transport, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for patients, crew, and drivers. The position requires adherence to general hospital standards, meeting patient care standards to optimize outcomes, and completing documentation requirements. The therapist will also provide educational enhancement to allied health practitioners and ensure age/developmentally appropriate patient care. This role is eligible for a $20,000 sign-on bonus and up to $8,000 in relocation assistance for qualified candidates.

Requirements

Graduate of an AMA approved two or four year program for respiratory care, or satisfies the requirements in the admissions policies of the NBRC for registry examinations.
Two years' experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
Two years' clinical experience with critical care patients (neonatal / pediatric preferred).
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
Licensed to practice as an RCP in the state of applicable state.
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) OR Pediatric ITLS.
Strong oral, written, and listening communication skills.
Ability to provide direct and indirect respiratory care.
Ability to perform multiple tasks under stress.
Ability to demonstrate and perform advanced practice skills including: Endotracheal Intubation, Arterial Puncture, arterial sampling from indwelling lines, Umbilical Catheter Insertion, Needle Chest Decompression, Intraosseous Cannulation and External Jugular Cannulation.
Ability to demonstrate and perform competencies with administering NCRCB approved pharmacologic agents.

Responsibilities

Adheres to general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.
Meets patient care standards to optimize patient outcomes.
Promotes a safe and supportive environment during transport for all passengers in the transport vehicle, i.e., patient, crew and drivers.
Provides respiratory therapies following age-appropriate standards of care and departmental guidelines.
Performs and maintains competency for point-of-care testing, as assigned, ensuring compliance with WFBH policies and with applicable state and federal regulations.
Completes documentation requirements for patient record and billing.
Reports information to relief personnel to ensure continuity of care for the patient.
Provides educational enhancement to allied health practitioners.
Ensures age/developmentally appropriate patient care is provided in accordance with Age-Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served.
Attends all required in-services, staff meetings, and team conferences.
