About The Position

As a Respiratory Therapist at UPMC Cole, you’ll play a vital role in supporting patients with cardiopulmonary conditions.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (approved by CoARC)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification that includes both classroom and hands-on training
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRTT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) before your temporary permit expires
  • If you received your CRTT after July 1, 2002, you’ll need to keep your certification up to date according to NBRC requirements
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (CRTT)
  • Osteopathic Respiratory Care OR Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP)
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal

Nice To Haves

  • Student with a temporary license (can start working with HR approval and official transcripts)

Responsibilities

  • Evaluating medical orders and interpreting clinical data to guide treatment
  • Operating and adjusting ventilators, oxygen therapy systems, and aerosol delivery devices
  • Monitoring patient responses and performing diagnostic tests
  • Assisting with emergency situations and transporting ventilated patients
  • Educating patients and mentoring students or new staff
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring equipment safety
