Requirements

  • Requires a valid Wisconsin Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
  • Requires CRT and RRT. Certified Respiratory Therapist and Registered Respiratory Therapist.
  • Current CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required.
  • Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification - American Heart Association (AHA) training (or required within 6 months).
  • Education - requires completion of a respiratory therapy program.
  • Demonstrated ability
  • A desire to serve children and families is essential.
  • Children's has a robust orientation process.

Nice To Haves

  • At least two (2) years of work experience as a licensed RCP (adult and/or pediatrics) is strongly preferred for this DAY shift opening as established competencies are desired to coordinate closely with interdisciplinary teams, participate in rounds, handling discharges, and managing complex care plans with high level of autonomy.
  • No Pediatric work experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory care to pediatric patients in various settings.
  • Administer respiratory therapy treatments and procedures.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient responses to therapy.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Educate patients and families on respiratory care and management.
  • Apply scientific knowledge, technical expertise, and theory to practical clinical problems.
  • Provide therapeutic, diagnostic, consultative, and supportive services for neonatal through adult patients and their families.
  • Actively participate in resuscitative and emergent situations.
  • Function within professional and hospital standards.
