About The Position

Performs a variety of clinical procedures as defined in the Respiratory Care Scope of Practice Job Description. Initiates, monitors and manages patients requiring various types of invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation. Initiates and manages various types of airways and associated equipment. Obtains blood gasses from sites, analyzes and reports results. Documents and charges for respiratory care procedures and tasks. Provides patient and family education, as appropriate. Communicates with members of the healthcare team, including students and nurse shadows, providing accurate and complete reports and making recommendations as appropriate. Adheres to infection control and quality initiatives. Performs appropriate cleaning/disinfection of equipment between patients as indicated by equipment type and isolation status. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate degree.
  • Graduate of a Respiratory Care Program by an accredited school
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the state in which work is performed.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
  • BLS
  • NRP, PALS, ACLS, NPS etc. must obtain and maintain certifications as required by work unit.
  • Skills necessary to treat patients of all ages to include neonates, infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
