The Respiratory Therapist (RT) PM position at Aurora Medical Center Grafton is a full-time role (0.9 FTE) requiring the individual to utilize respiratory therapy processes to support patient assessment. This involves skills such as pulmonary diagnostics, chest radiograph interpretation, hemodynamic values, and laboratory values, correlating blood gases and electrolytes. The role requires identifying and addressing the special needs of patient populations specific to department services, operating specialized ventilators in critical and non-critical care venues, and assisting physicians with bedside procedures. Responsibilities include providing medication treatments per physician order or patient-driven protocols, cleaning and maintaining equipment, troubleshooting equipment issues, and educating patients on therapy goals and disease management. The RT will also facilitate clinical problem-solving, collaborate with other departments, adapt to policies and procedures across various service areas, and maintain performance standards. Effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution skills are essential, as is providing clear, concise, and accurate patient handoffs. Promoting a culture of safety by applying proper safety measures, reporting patient safety events, and assisting in corrective actions is also a key responsibility. Additionally, the role involves teaching, educating, and precepting new teammates, orientees, and students, demonstrating knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served, and understanding principles of growth and development across the life span.
