About The Position

This role involves providing comprehensive respiratory care to patients. The Respiratory Therapist will conduct pulmonary function tests, assess patient conditions, and develop treatment plans in collaboration with physicians. Key responsibilities include administering treatments such as inhalants and mechanical ventilation, monitoring patient responses, and evaluating the effectiveness of care plans. The position also requires assisting healthcare providers, maintaining detailed patient records, and implementing strategies to ensure patients receive appropriate care. Continuous professional development is expected through workshops, publications, and professional engagement.

Requirements

• Licensed to practice as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in the state of Kentucky.
• BLS certified.
• ACLS certified.
• Previous experience in Respiratory Therapy required.

Responsibilities

• Conducting pulmonary function tests.
• Assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results.
• Determining respiratory therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians and by prescription.
• Administering inhalants and operating mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators.
• Performing bronchopulmonary drainage and assisting with breathing exercises.
• Monitoring physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes.
• Directing treatments given by aides, technicians, and assistants.
• Evaluating the effects of respiratory therapy treatment plan by observing, noting, and evaluating patient's progress and recommending adjustments.
• Assisting providers in providing health care and treatment.
• Maintaining records on all cases regarding visits, interviews, referrals, follow-ups, and other actions.
• Collecting and recording data and preparing required reports.
• Monitoring trends and implementing strategies to assist patients with accessing appropriate level of care.
• Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
• Performing other job-related duties as assigned.
