About The Position

Harris Regional Hospital is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join their team. This PRN position involves providing direct respiratory care to patients, including measuring lung capacity, analyzing blood samples, administering therapies, and responding to emergent situations. The role also includes maintaining equipment, stocking supplies, and educating patients and families. The hospital is an 86-bed facility offering a full range of services and is part of Lifepoint Health, a diversified healthcare delivery network.

Requirements

• Graduate of a school of Respiratory Therapy
• Registered Respiratory Therapist in North Carolina
• Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire
• ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience preferred
• ASLS certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Measures lung capacity and analyzes blood samples using a blood gas analyzer.
• Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
• Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance. Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment.
• Educates the patient and family about the patient's illness and provides information about community support groups and other resources.
• Monitors, receives, stocks, and distributes respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders.
• Maintains storage areas with required supply levels and equipment.
• Disassembles, cleans, and sterilizes equipment, and performs preventative maintenance and calibration of machines.
