About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist (RRT) at Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC) provides critical care for patients with cardiopulmonary diseases, directly impacting patient outcomes. RRTs are on the front lines of care, especially in critical and emergent situations where their interventions are life-saving. This role offers critical care, high-impact patient work, broad clinical exposure (ICU, diagnostics, advanced therapies), strong interdisciplinary collaboration, and opportunities for leadership and autonomy. Requirements

Current State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required.
Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certified from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) upon hire and maintain current.
Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the AHA or ARC certification upon hire and maintain current.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the AHA certification upon hire and maintain current or obtained within 60 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

Neonatal Resuscitation Program certificate is preferred.
Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
Two (2) years of acute care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Performing respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as ordered by the physician.
Assessing, planning, implementing, and documenting patient care, considering age and population-specific needs.
Potentially serving as Lead RCP in the absence of a supervisor, with responsibility for the section or department during their shift.
