About The Position

McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center is your community medical provider, serving the Willamette Valley and its residents. Our 113-bed hospital offers inpatient, outpatient, diagnostic, medical, surgical and emergency care. We are a family of caregivers offering care to our larger family — our community. This position involves assessing patients' respiratory status, applying and evaluating appropriate therapy, and performing all respiratory therapy procedures according to medical prescription and departmental policies. The role includes instructing patients about their prescribed therapy, operating, cleaning, and maintaining respiratory equipment, sharing patient care information with the healthcare team, and assisting with department research related to quality assurance and performance improvement.

Requirements

  • Current Oregon Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
  • Associate of Applied Science in Respiratory Care.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (NBRC).
  • BLS required.
  • ACLS & PALS required within 3 months of hire; NRP required within 6 months of hire.
  • At least 18 months of clinical practice in a hospital setting, either as an RCP or as a participant in clinical training as part of a respiratory care program.
  • Knowledge of theory and application of all diagnostic and therapeutic modes of respiratory care.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patients' respiratory status.
  • Applies and evaluates appropriate therapy.
  • Performs all respiratory therapy procedures for patients according to medical prescription and departmental policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Instructs/teaches patients about therapy prescribed for them.
  • Operates, cleans and maintains electrical, pneumatic and manual equipment used for diagnosis and treatment of respiratory care patients.
  • Shares patient care information with nursing, physicians and others involved in the care of patients.
  • Assists with department research associated with quality assurance and performance improvement efforts.
