About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist evaluates, treats, and cares for patients with breathing or other cardiopulmonary disorders. This position practices under the direction of a physician. The position provides bedside respiratory care to patients as assigned by supervisors and given on the physician's written order for both in house and out patient care.

Requirements

• Certificate of Completion Respiratory Required or Associates Degree Respiratory Required
• Clinical rotations from an accredited respiratory practitioner program. Required
• Registered Respiratory Therapist Licensed State of Florida Upon Hire Required
• BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 6 Months Required
• Strong assessment and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to assess patient conditions and respond quickly in emergency situations.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• Ability to safely operate respiratory care equipment and technology.
• Demonstrated current theoretic and clinical expertise with respect to community respiratory therapy practices and education.

Responsibilities

• Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the respiratory therapy department as defined in the scope of service, to ensure that the unique nature of the client is addressed. This includes, but is not limited to the age of the client served.
• Administer prescribed respiratory medications and therapies safe and effectively, knowing their indications and contraindications.
• Operate, monitor, and maintain respiratory care equipment.
• Performs arterial punctures and arterial line draws for blood gas analysis.
• Respond to emergency situations, including rapid responses, and cardiopulmonary arrests.
• Monitor patient progress, document care provided, and communicate with the interdisciplinary team regarding treatment plans and patient status.
• Educate patients, families, and healthcare team members on respiratory care and disease management.
