About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This position is within our Level One Trauma Center and offers a competitive salary and a full benefits package. The clinical team approach at our 600-bed hospital utilizes RT-driven protocols across all patient populations. Opportunities exist to work in various clinical areas, including general floors, critical care, neonatal, pediatric, and adult settings across three campuses. The department is known for its supportive management and friendly, helpful staff. The RT Department supports a Level 1 Adult Trauma Center, Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, STEMI Center, and a Level 4 NICU. This is a full-time position requiring 72-80 hours per pay period, typically involving rotating 8 or 12-hour shifts with weekend requirements and potential on-call hours. New hires initially work every other weekend, transitioning to every third weekend after one year of service.

Requirements

  • A degree in Respiratory Care from an accredited respiratory care program is required; minimum associate degree or equivalent as defined by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Respiratory Therapists must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of all procedures, indications, contraindications, and hazards involved in respiratory care, as well as knowledge of equipment utilized in their department.
  • Demonstrates the ability and knowledge required to utilize computers for patient documentation and data gathering for quality care.
  • Must complete orientations, competency validations, and other in-servicing as required by the department and hospital.
  • Must have current Respiratory Therapy licensure in state(s) of practice and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges as required by position.
  • Must have Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials as attained through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and maintain active status according to NBRC credentialing requirements.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
  • Must obtain site-specific specialty credential(s) such as Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), etc.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients to prevent, detect, monitor, and manage disease and complications.
  • Measure patient's lung capacity to determine if there are any impairments.
  • Offer diagnosis results and treatment suggestions based on the analysis of the patient.
  • Work in several clinical areas ranging from general floors to critical care.
