Requirements

  • Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner License in CA.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • English fluency (written and verbally).
  • Knowledge of the general/specific tasks necessary to the practice of Respiratory Care; requires demonstrated competency in the ability and knowledge to perform arterial punctures, walk studies, pulmonary screens and pulmonary functions testing.

Nice To Haves

  • PALS certification recommended.
  • Current NRP certification for NICU RCP

Responsibilities

  • Promotes healing of acutely ill patients whose cardiac or pulmonary systems have been compromised through illness or injury through the provision of diagnostic testing, providing for the psycho-social needs of the patient, and patient education.
  • Encourages and enhances the progression and efficient operation of the Cardiopulmonary Services Department.
  • Treats patients form pediatrics, adolescents, young, middle, and older adults.
  • When requested, assists day-to-day operation of the pulmonary lab, referring out of the ordinary issues to the Supervisor, Manager and /or Medical Director, as appropriate.
  • Provides diagnostic testing to the patient to help optimize the total care given.
  • Performs arterial punctures for blood gas analysis.
  • Ability to perform walk studies, pulmonary screens, and pulmonary functions testing.
