About The Position

This position specializes in the application of scientific knowledge and theory to practical clinical problems of respiratory care. The Respiratory Therapist may be required to exercise considerable independent clinical judgment in the respiratory care of patients under the direct or indirect supervision of a physician. The role is within the Sleep Disorder Center and involves a rotating shift schedule of three 12-hour nights per week, alternating between Week 1 (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and Week 2 (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday).

Requirements

• Graduation from a CoARC accredited program in respiratory care with an associate's degree required.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required and licensed by the State of New York.
• OR: Polysom Technologist with associate degree in polysom with board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) required.
• BLS/CPR Certification within orientation period.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's Degree desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assumes primary clinical responsibility for all respiratory care modalities specific to his or her clinical area.
• Includes responsibility involved in supervision of students enrolled in respiratory care programs.
• May be required to exercise considerable independent clinical judgement in the respiratory care of patients under the direct or indirect supervision of a physician.
