The NICU Registered Respiratory Therapist delivers specialized respiratory care for premature and critically ill newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Working with minimal supervision, this role performs comprehensive assessments, administers and evaluates therapeutic interventions, and ensures safe, effective ventilatory support in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team. The therapist provides expertise in neonatal respiratory physiology, participates in emergency response situations, and contributes to individualized care planning. Additional responsibilities include educating families and staff, maintaining and troubleshooting respiratory equipment, and supporting general departmental operations. The NICU Respiratory Therapist promotes a culture of safety, clinical excellence, and compassionate, family‑centered care.
