About The Position

Delivers critical and noncritical patient care services to patients of all age groups using selected invasive and noninvasive techniques related to the cardiopulmonary system. Provides respiratory care in inpatient and outpatient areas and demonstrates a high level of commitment and professionalism. Must practice within the scope of practice in accordance with the licensure act.

Requirements

Graduate of a Respiratory Therapy program.
RRT credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
Current state license to practice respiratory care.
Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
Must demonstrate critical care knowledge related to cardiopulmonary disease states.

Nice To Haves

One to three years of experience preferred.
Active membership in the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC) preferred.
NRP certification preferred for respective work areas.

Responsibilities

Performs and monitors patient progress and response to respiratory care services.
Assesses patients and makes appropriate recommendations based on outcomes regarding therapeutic interventions.
Performs assigned duties as a respiratory care practitioner in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
Performs invasive and noninvasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Records information accurately in the patient legal record and maintains department records.
Educates patients about their disease states, wellness, home care modalities, and safety, and provides treatments appropriate to age-specific needs.
Educates and precepts students and new orientees on the roles and responsibilities of a respiratory care practitioner.
Applies technical knowledge to consult physicians regarding cardiopulmonary status.
Participates in in-services and meetings, completes competencies, and monitors department communications.
May serve in charge or team leader roles and perform other assigned duties.
